Clutch Shoe Fix
| Does your T-Maxx or other R/C with a .21 engine eat Clutch Shoes?
Here is a quick fix to help stop the slipping clutch shoe syndrome. | |
![]() First off you will have to remove the clutch bell, bearings and any washers. Set them out of your way. Notice how the shoes are installed, this is referred to as leading edge first. This is not the preferred setup for a .21 engine |
![]() Remove the clutch shoes. Clean them if they are not melted or worn beyond repair. If you are in doubt as to what "wore out" might be purchase a new set of clutch shoes. Spin the flywheel, set the pins at 12 and 6 o'clock. |
![]() With the shoes in hand flip them upside down from the original position, this is referred to as trailing edge first. Keep the pins at 12 and 6 o'clock positions. Push the shoes back on to the pins, it should look exactly like this picture. Notice the spaces between the shoes. |
![]() Check the bearings in the clutchbell for excessive wear as now is a good time to replace them if need be. With the shoes back in place reinstall the washers, bearings and clutchbell. Take your R/C out for a spin and you will notice a difference in acceleration, guaranteed. |
